Sapphire Unit
Sapphire Unit supports working-age adults with a primary mental health diagnosis or complex mental health needs, including those with co-occurring diagnoses and presentations such as brain injury or behaviours of concern.
Many of the people we support also have one or more physical health conditions, requiring a holistic, integrated approach.
Traditional mental health or brain injury units often cannot provide this level of comprehensive care. On Sapphire Unit, we ensure that every aspect of an individual's wellbeing is met, with care delivered by a team of both Mental Health and General Nurses.
Care model
Our care model focuses on maintaining and advancing functionality while enhancing overall quality of life.
The unit’s calming environment is particularly beneficial for people sensitive to sensory overload, helping to reduce agitation, anxiety, and confusion. We aim to provide a peaceful and supportive home that promotes stability and wellbeing.
On Sapphire, the multidisciplinary team encourages community engagement, fosters meaningful occupations, and supports the development of essential life skills.
The unit features an activities of daily living (ADL) kitchen, empowering people to work towards greater independence and autonomy.
With a strong emphasis on progression and occupational engagement, we focus on achieving meaningful outcomes that support individuals on their pathway toward independent living in the community.
Emerald Unit
Designed as a rehabilitation-focused environment, Emerald Unit serves as a transitional home between locked rehabilitation/low secure settings and supported living.
It provides a supportive setting that fosters positive mental health and continuous progress, enabling people to gradually reintegrate into the community in a safe and structured way.
The people living on Emerald tend to be younger working-age adults with a primary mental health diagnosis, who may present with significant behaviours of concern and/or have a forensic background.
Our care model
Led by an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse, the unit provides personalised, recovery-oriented care, ensuring each individual’s unique needs and aspirations are met.

Ruby Unit
Ruby Unit supports older adults with a primary dementia diagnosis, who may also present with behaviours of concern and/or have multiple diagnoses or co-morbidities that present needs beyond the scope of mainstream care providers.
Due to the progressive nature of dementia, individuals on Ruby require advanced care planning, as well as palliative and end-of-life care to ensure dignity and comfort.
They may also experience limited mobility and/or physical disabilities, requiring access to specialist aids and equipment to support their daily living needs.
Ruby has a strong history of supporting people who’ve experienced one or more failed placements, providing stability, consistency, and person-centred interventions to meet their evolving needs.
The environment is thoughtfully designed in line with the University of Stirling’s ‘Environments for Ageing and Dementia Design Assessment Tool (EADDAT),’ creating a space that promotes comfort, independence, and overall wellbeing.
