What I love about working in social care is being able to follow people’s whole rehabilitation journey.
I’ve worked in a hospital on a neuro physio ward, and the goal is to support people to a point where they can be discharged.
Physiotherapy requirements don’t stop the moment you’re discharged so, in those settings, you miss out on seeing a lot of that journey.
Where as here, I can see the progress and celebrate every milestone along the way.
My role includes carrying out assessments, providing physiotherapy interventions and managing our Therapy Assistants.
There are stereotypes associated with care homes and people often think it’s only older individuals - but that couldn’t be further from the truth at Willowbeck!
We support people of all ages, living with a range of conditions including brain injuries, neuro-disabilities and spinal injuries – all who have very different care needs.
It’s a really rewarding role. You build relationships with people and help improve their quality of life and day-to-day living.
It's why I do what I do.
To anyone thinking about applying for this role, I say go for it. Definitely.
